What
many did not consider when buying a Travel Insurance?
Is Cheap
Travel Insurance a Good Travel insurance?
NOT all Insurance
package is the same. It does not means cheap or expensive is good.
- Are
you on Package Tour?
- Are
you Renting a car?
- Are
you going for Amateur Sports (Hot-Air Balloon, Para-Sailing, White
water Drafting, Snow Skiing) or Leisure Underwater Activites?
- Are
you going for Golf Game?
- Is
there anyone left at home?
- Is there pregnant lady in the group?
Travel
is
exciting and uplifting. It can broaden
the mind, recharge the body and soothe the soul. But it doesn’t always
run smoothly. There are many events that are beyond your
control. And suddenly, after all the
saving and careful planning for your holiday, you find something has
happened
that changes everything.
Something
as simple as a missed connection or lost baggage can throw plans into
upheaval. You can lose precious time
that may affect your entire travel schedule. And inconveniences like
this often result in added expense.
Wherever
you go, you probably already take reasonable precautions to avoid
problems? But still so much can happen that’s
completely unexpected. And of course
it’s impossible to foresee everything. Just
by being “in the wrong place at the wrong time” you
and your
family could be
faced with a situation that culminates in a loss of personal
possessions,
sickness, injury or worse. On top of the
distress, you may also suffer considerable expense.
Today,
being caught up in a litigious situation is always a possibility. Your
pleasant holiday or important business
trip could turn into a financial nightmare for you and your family
should your
actions somehow cause property damage or personal injury to another
party. If local law finds that you have been
negligent, you may have to pay rigorous general and/or special damages.
Reasons
to buy travel insurance:
1. Your flight has been cancelled.
Example: Iceland
Volcano, Strike of Airline Staff, Closure of Airport due
to
other
terrorism, weather, etc. Is there a concern of volcano effect if you
are only going Australia and not Europe? Do you know how many volcanos
are there in Indonesia and why Iceland Volcano Eruption caused
Governments and Airport to cancel flight?
2.
Your
bags are lost and your medication is in it. You need to have an
emergency prescription filled.
I
had never encounter before as I don’t travel often, but it seems common
in US
and Europe.
One of my friend just lost his luggage in US and
posted it on facebook.
3.
Your
passport and wallet are stolen, and you need emergency cash and a
replacement passport.
I
encounter this when I was on a backpack trip in China, we met a British
couple who save on any penny of their expenses and we found out that
one of them had their wallet stolen. Interesting site to share: Lost
and Found Tourist Treasures
4.
You're
involved in an accident and adequate medical treatment is not
available. You need medical evacuation.
News
of tour bus crash (Like
this one is US) or foreign rental vehicle crash is not
uncommon.
5.
You
need to cancel your trip due to illness.
6.
Your
cruise line, airline or tour operator goes bankrupt. You need your
non-refundable expenses covered and to get to your destination.
For
an airline or tour operator to go bankrupt in Singapore is not so
likely but not impossible, but it could be more possible for domestic
flight which you need to transfer. List
of
bankrupt Airlines.
7.
You
have a medical emergency in a foreign country due to terrorism
or any
unforeseen circumstance.
Indonesia hotel bombings:
nine killed and 50 injured in Jakarta attacks
8. A riot
occurs in the city where you’re planning to visit and you want to
cancel your trip.
